RELEASE: Alabama schools receive $422,500 From No Kid Hungry to feed kids amidst COVID-19<\/h2>\n

\u201cThese grants will help ensure students in Alabama continue to get the nutrition they need to learn,\u201d says Eleni Towns.<\/i><\/p>\n

Washington, DC<\/strong>: As part of No Kid\u00a0Hungry\u2019s\u00a0continuing effort to ensure all children in\u00a0Alabama\u00a0remain nourished and healthy, the campaign recently announced an addition $422,500 in grants to 12 school districts to support school meal programs this semester.<\/p>\n

\u201cSchool meals are available to students across Alabama no matter if they are learning remotely or participating in a hybrid model,\u201d says Eleni Towns, associate director for the No Kid Hungry campaign. \u201cWe at No Kid Hungry are in awe of the phenomenal work of school nutrition staff. They have been at the front lines of this pandemic, working creatively and diligently to reach all of their students by offering curb-side pickup meals, delivering meals to bus stops or community centers, collaborating with community groups to offer additional family food boxes, and more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Families are encouraged to reach out to their school system to inquire about how school meals could support them students. Families can also text FOOD or COMIDA to 877 877 to learn more about meal sites available near them.<\/p>\n
