Ensuring robust support for these essential workers and the schools and programs working to mitigate food insecurity in our communities is more crucial than ever to advancing equity and recovery. That\u2019s the reason we\u2019re grateful for Governor Newsom\u2019s past and continued support of these programs, and we\u2019re pleased the state is prioritizing these essential workers for COVID-19 vaccines, which will help protect those who are working tirelessly to keep families fed now and when schools eventually resume hybrid and in-person learning. We look forward to continuing to work with the Administration and the Legislature to ensure adequate funding and support for these vital programs, their hard-working staff and volunteers and the children and families who rely on them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #625c58\">Seventeen million kids could face hunger this year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, including more than 2.2 million right here in California. Last year, the California State Legislature and Governor Newsom allocated $192 million toward emergency school meals, which remain available to all children age 18 and under without enrollment.
