Amid tremendous hardships over the last year, school districts, organizations, and members of the community have stepped up to fight against childhood hunger.<\/p>\n

As part of our May Moment of Gratitude Week, April 28th through May 7th, and #ThankAHungerHero Appreciation Month, we want to share our gratitude, highlight and uplift the dedicated school district and community organization staff and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to feed California\u2019s kids.<\/p>\n

Because we know, while schools closed in March 2020, school nutrition services and community organizations did not.<\/p>\n

Who do you think should receive some love and recognition?<\/strong><\/p>\n

About the League of Hunger Heroes<\/strong><\/p>\n

The League of Hunger Heroes recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a heroic commitment to ending poverty and childhood hunger in their communities. This leadership may be demonstrated in a variety of ways, through both formal and informal roles, within school districts, organizations, and in the community working on hunger relief.<\/p>\n

Nomination Requirements<\/b><\/p>\n

Anyone may submit a nomination for the California League of Hunger Heroes. A maximum of three (3) nominations can be submitted per person. All required questions on the nomination must be completed and must clearly state why the candidate should be considered for this recognition.<\/p>\n

2021 Guidelines and Eligibility<\/b><\/p>\n

Nominees must be or have been employees of school districts and community organizations or volunteers supporting childhood hunger relief programs in their community. Nominees are individuals who have stepped up and gone the extra mile in the frontlines to ensure children get the meals they need from when schools closed in March 2020; those who have helped us raise awareness and funds to respond to this crisis; and the leaders and champions advocating for policy solutions to help children and their families weather the pandemic.<\/p>\n
