Strengthening Food Security: No Kid Hungry California Issues Latest Grants to Sustain Free Meals for Kids <\/strong><\/h2>

Sacramento, Calif.<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0 No Kid Hungry California is thrilled to announce the awarding of just under $140,000 in new grants to continue to support food security for children in California. These funds will be distributed to three school districts and local community organizations dedicated to expanding access to nutritious meals for children, particularly during critical times such as the upcoming holiday season. Breakfast After the Bell, a key initiative championed by No Kid Hungry California, provides every student the opportunity to enjoy a nutritious meal during school hours, which is essential for maintaining concentration and improving educational performance.<\/p>

In California, the issue of childhood hunger remains a significant concern, with many children at risk of hunger, especially during school breaks. These grants aim to address this challenge by supporting the expansion of ‘Breakfast After the Bell’ programs in school districts and collaborating with a community organization working with Sac City Unified School District. This partnership focuses on evaluating food security across community schools, identifying gaps, and implementing strategies to ensure no child goes hungry.<\/p>

“As we approach the holiday season, it’s crucial to ensure that our children have consistent access to nutritious meals,\u201d said Kathy Saile, No Kid Hungry California Director. \u201cThese grants will play a pivotal role in not just maintaining but expanding the reach of our meal programs. We\u2019re fortunate here in California to have countless hunger heroes working tirelessly to ensure kids and families don\u2019t miss out on the nutrition they need to grow and thrive. Hardworking child nutrition professionals and the thousands of champions on the ground<\/a> continue to do what they can to reach even more kids<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>

The grants will support initiatives such as improving meal distribution methods, enhancing food storage facilities, and ensuring the availability of nutritious meals during school breaks. This effort aligns with No Kid Hungry California’s ongoing commitment to end childhood hunger and provide support to schools and community organizations working tirelessly to feed the future of California.<\/p>

No Kid Hungry has provided $139,794 in grants to the following California school districts and community organizations:<\/p>
