As many as 1 in 6 kids struggle with hunger in Florida<\/a>. At No Kid Hungry, we know that school meals – including healthy breakfasts – can help solve this.
<\/p>\n

As we recently celebrated National School Breakfast Week<\/a>, we want to shine a light on the importance that school breakfast plays in our fight to make No Kid Hungry a reality<\/a>. Breakfast sets students up for success from the very start of their day by fueling them up with the nutrients they need to learn, grow, and thrive!<\/p>\n

Just look to Putnam County School District, schools are ensuring students start their day right with a free nutritious breakfast. Since the program started in 2013, Dr Rick Surrency – Putnam County School District\u2019s superintendent \u2013 has seen significant improvements in students\u2019 academic and social achievements.<\/p>\n

Most of Putnam County School District offer breakfast in the classroom which allows students to eat their morning meal in their first classroom with their friends. Other school breakfast models<\/a> include grab and go breakfast, where students pick up conveniently packaged breakfasts from mobile service carts in high traffic areas, and second chance breakfast, where students eat breakfast during a mid-morning break, often between first and second period or midway between breakfast and lunch.<\/p>\n

School breakfast has many benefits and it\u2019s also a win for families, lightening the load during busy weekday mornings and helping parents and caregivers stretch their food budget at a time where inflation rates are soaring.<\/p>\n
