Congratulations to our 2025 Summer Grantees! No Kid Hungry Georgia is so excited to partner with schools and community based organizations all over Georgia! We are so thankful for all they are going to do to feed kids this summer. To read more about what they will be doing, read below:

Baldwin County School District

Baldwin School district has done summer non-congregate before, but is expanding their program this summer by adding five mobile routes to their distribution. In addition, they will have one non-congregate drive-thru site will serve 7 days worth of meals and will be open throughout the end of the summer school session.

Brooks County Schools

Brooks County Schools is a first time rural non-congregate sponsor this year! They are doing great work, expanding their summer program with a newly extended summer break. Brooks County Schools will be serving June through August, and providing 7 days worth of meals for students per week!

Burke County Public Schools

Burke County Public Schools is a returning rural non-congregate sponsor that will be expanding and serving additional meals to students via mobile route distribution. They hope to have an increase of at least 200 meal boxes from last summer for kids. 5 days worth of breakfast and lunch meals will be delivered to 100 route stops once a week!

As Allison Lairscy, Burke County’s school nutrition coordinator, puts it, “our goal is to ensure that the children in our county receive healthy meals for 6 weeks this summer.”

Colquitt County Board of Education

Colquitt County is a returning summer non-congregate sponsor seeking to expand mobile meal distribution to support migrant families and communities during the month of June with 3 meals/day per week and supplemental meals in July. An additional route will be added to reach 100 more families!

Denise Pope, Colquitt County’s school nutrition director, shares that the heart behind this expansion is “to increase opportunities for these vulnerable students, through no fault of their own, to be able to receive summer meals.” This project will help ensure these students have the same opportunity to receive meals as other students.

Evans County Board of Education

After surveying parents, Evans County is expanding and innovating their summer meals program this year. They are adding additional routes to reach more community members and providing shelf stable milk to meet the community’s needs.

Thank you for serving your community and intentionally seeking out its needs!

Franklin County Schools

This will be Franklin County School’s first summer providing summer non-congregate meals! They have a mobile meals program running buses twice a week. In addition, they will be distributing weekend bulk meals. Their hope is to serve 1,000 meals and reach communities in apartment complexes!

Kandice Browning, Franklin county’s school nutrition director, says “even with this being our first year, we are trying to reach as many students as possible as our area is very rural and limited access to healthy foods, especially when school is out.”

Jenkins County High School

This year, Jenkins County will be doing mobile meals for the first time! They will be utilizing school busses and providing meals all over the county.

Allison Dann, Jenkins County’s school nutrition director, hopes “to reach more students across the county this year by going to them rather than them having to find a way to the school this summer. “

Troup County High School

Troup County is hoping to expand summer feeding to 2-3 new sites in housing complexes in vulnerable areas. They will be serving 7 days worth of breakfast and adding 2 more days of weekly distribution via mobile delivery and walk up service.

Their goal is to reach 300 more kids this summer!
