Mableton, GA<\/b> – Share Our Strength\u2019s No Kid Hungry campaign and Dollar Tree are proud to announce Mableton as an inaugural recipient of the Mayors Alliance Action Fund to End Childhood Hunger (Mayors Action Fund), a grant fund of the<\/span> Mayors Alliance to End Childhood Hunger<\/span><\/a> (Mayors Alliance). This important initiative, generously supported by Dollar Tree, brings together collective voices and resources to end childhood hunger and strengthen family economic mobility in communities across the country. The city of Mableton will receive a total of $24,000 in grant funds to help fight hunger on a hyper local basis. The Mayors Alliance taps into the individual and collective leadership of over 550 Mayors to take meaningful actions to end childhood hunger in cities nationwide. The Mayors Action Fund is in its inaugural year. Generously supported by Dollar Tree, the Fund is being launched to support initiatives in mayors\u2019 communities that they feel are most important to their efforts to end child hunger.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Mableton, Mayor Owens plans to use the grant funds to launch the \u201cMableton Summer Nutrition and Family Empowerment Initiative,\u201d an effort to increase access to summer meals and family nutrition programs for children and families at risk of food insecurity. Grant funds will support outreach, cross-sector coordination, and community engagement to connect families with Summer EBT, WIC, and local non-congregate meal sites.
