On Wednesday, June 23, No Kid Hungry will host a digital day of action to end summer hunger.<\/p>\n

Summer is usually the hungriest time of year. This summer, however, may be a different story because new benefits and flexibilities in how meals are served are helping to reach even more kids with the food they need.\u00a0But these measures are only temporary. Congress must act soon to permanently update and modernize the summer meals programs.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Starting on June 28, Congress will begin working from their district offices for the July 4th recess, making it the perfect time for their constituents (that\u2019s you!) to get in touch about an issue we know you care about –\u00a0ending childhood hunger.<\/p>\n

Here are three things you can do on June 23:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Learn:<\/strong>\u00a0Get up-to-speed about summer hunger and the effective, proven policy solutions that can help get more nutrition to kids when schools are closed.\u00a0Click here to learn five things about ending summer hunger for kids<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Share:\u00a0<\/strong>Tweet at your Members of Congress, urging them to update and modernize the summer meals programs. Click here to send a tweet to your Members of Congress. [Link available 6\/23]<\/li>\n
  3. Send:<\/strong>\u00a0Give your Members of Congress something to read when they\u2019re home on recess by sending a letter to the editor of your local paper. Click here to submit a pre-written, customizable letter. [Link available 6\/23]<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    With practical, common-sense policy changes, Congress can ensure more kids get the nutrition they need. But they need to act now. Thanks for using your voice on June 23 to advocate for change.<\/p>\n
