Washington, DC\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 This week, Governor Beshear signed into law SB 151, a bill that will help ensure kids across Kentucky are able to access a nutritious school breakfast. The following is a statement from Share Our Strength Senior Vice President Lisa Davis on the impact of this legislation:<\/p>\n

\u201cLast week, Kentucky\u2019s legislature took important steps to ensure students will be able to access school breakfast. SB 151 removes \u201cbarriers to breakfast\u201d for vulnerable children across the Commonwealth of Kentucky.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis important piece of legislation will help improve access for the more than 270,000, Kentucky students who are missing out on school breakfast. By clarifying state law to allow school administrators to consider 15 minutes of time when students are eating breakfast in their classroom and engaged in educational activities as instructional time, this bill will enable schools to implement more effective breakfast programs like breakfast in the classroom.<\/p>\n
