These funds will help grantees maximize the At-Risk Afterschool Meals component of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and will help ensure kids and families in Michigan have access to healthy meals after the school day ends.<\/p><p>As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, many families in Michigan may face increased hardship. Hunger and poverty, already at unacceptable levels, are affecting children at an alarming rate, and the hunger that kids face today has the power to impact the rest of their lives.\u00a0Thankfully, school districts, community organizations and government entities can implement programs like CACFP, and play a key role in ensuring children receive access to nutritious meals and food they need to learn, grow, and thrive to reach their full potential.<\/p><p>\u201cThese flexible grants will allow organizations and government entities across Michigan to respond to the growing needs and emerging opportunities to provide food and resources to kids and families,\u201d said Mindy Grant, Senior Program Manager for No Kid Hungry Michigan. \u201cWe are proud to support schools and community organizations as they do their important work to reach more kids with healthy meals, even as they the continued challenges of the pandemic.\u201d<\/p><p>Grantees selected serve communities experiencing inequalities as well as economic hardship.
