Happy Thanksgiving from All of Us at No Kid Hungry New York!

Dear School Nutrition Staff and Community Organizations,

On behalf of No Kid Hungry New York and New York’s kids, thank you.

This year has been devastating. Thousands of children and families in New York are now facing food insecurity at unprecedented levels due to the coronavirus pandemic and its economic implications. But amidst the devastation, there are stories of hope – among them, the champions who have worked tirelessly to ensure kids in New York have food in their bellies throughout this tumultuous year – champions like you.

When your community needed you more than ever, you stepped up in incredible ways to make sure that the hundreds of thousands of kids in New York who rely on school meals would not go hungry when school buildings were closed.

The last few months have not been easy. Working day in and day out without a break and adjusting to new operations overnight – school nutrition staff have emerged from the coronavirus pandemic as the unsung heroes on the front lines.

For kids across the state of New York, this tireless support has truly been life-changing. Thanks to you, these kids and their families have remained nourished with consistent and safe meals during these challenging times.

We are thinking of you this Thanksgiving and hope that you have a moment to rest, reflect and know how incredibly appreciated and valued you are. Thank you for everything that you do. We are profoundly grateful for your extraordinary commitment to feed New York’s kids in the midst of so much.

Many Thanks,

Rachel Sabella, Emily Gartenberg, and Anna Lourie
