\nDurham \u2013 Almac Group\u00a0today announces that the organization will donate to 100 Black Men of America, No Kid Hungry North Carolina, and WE ARE (\u201cworking to\u00a0extend\u00a0anti-racist\u00a0education\u201d) as part of an over $300,000 total contribution being made to 33 charities globally to support their critical work in the wake of COVID-19.<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/header>\n

Almac recognizes that charitable organizations rely on significant donations typically received via monthly events and fundraising, and that those efforts have ceased as a result of the pandemic. To help support these organizations Almac launched a localized employee survey effort to determine regional charitable beneficiaries. Each of Almac\u2019s 5,600 employees across 11 main facilities located in the U.K., Europe, Asia and North America were given the opportunity to select charities, and in total, 33 organizations will receive a donation in direct response to Almac\u2019s employee feedback.<\/span><\/p>\n

100 Black Men of America (Triangle East Chapter), No Kid Hungry North Carolina, and WE ARE were chosen directly by Almac employees in Durham, due to the crucial role each one plays in supporting the needs of the community.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAlmac\u2019s generous grant will support the Mentorship Program of the Triangle East Chapter, which sponsors a wide range of workshops,group and one-on-one mentoring activities for young men of color in middle and high school. Our ultimate goal is to assist them to stay in school, graduate from high school and lay the groundwork for a successful post high school life plan,\u201d<\/span><\/i>\u00a0Nate Branscomb, President, 100 Black Men of America- Triangle East Chapter, said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAligned with our ongoing mission, during the COVID-19 pandemic, our team has worked to make sure healthy meals remain accessible for kids who need them across the state<\/i>,\u201d Lou Anne Crumpler with No Kid Hungry NC at UNC said. \u201cWe are honored to receive this funding, and we are grateful for our partners at schools and community organizations in Durham and statewide who tirelessly provide these critical meals.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are incredibly thankful and humbled to be among the organizations selected to receive a donation<\/i>,\u201d Ronda Taylor Bullock, Ph.D., Lead Curator, WE ARE, said. \u201cThis gift helps us to achieve our mission of collaborating with children, families and educators to dismantle systemic racism in education and beyond. In light of the global pandemic, the donations will replace this year\u2019s Almac Family Fun events, which are held annually to bring together employees and their families. Community giving is always a crucial part of the Fun Day tradition\u2014last year, Almac\u2019s employees in Durham collected donations for Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.<\/span><\/p>\n
