Happy holidays from No Kid Hungry Tennessee! This holiday season, we are taking time to reflect on the last twelve months and the steps we have taken towards ending childhood hunger in Tennessee. From Memphis to Knoxville and all in between, there are school nutrition professionals, community members, and other supporters working to make sure every child gets the food they need to play, learn, and grow. Please join us on a trip down memory lane, celebrating some of our favorite highlights from 2024.
No Kid Hungry Tennessee Grants
In 2024, No Kid Hungry Tennessee granted $203,300 to 17 schools and community organizations. These grant dollars helped to expand rural non-congregate summer meals in the state. To read more about our grantees’ innovative approaches to improving food security, check out stories on our blog.
No Kid Hungry Tennessee In The News
One of the most important steps to ending childhood hunger is spreading awareness. This year, we are so grateful to all the reporters who helped share important news about food insecurity in Tennessee. Below, you can read our most recent story on NBC News highlighting not only the struggles families are facing, but some of the work that school districts, community organizations, and other partners are doing to make sure our children have access to three meals a day, 365 days a year.
Finally, we want to reiterate our thanks for you and your support. To our partners, policymakers, community organizations, school nutrition staff, state agencies, and other supporters, none of this work can be accomplished without our shared commitment to make No Kid Hungry a reality. Thank you for working tirelessly to ensure kids have the food they need to dream of a brighter and more caring future. We wish you a happy and healthy 2025!
Call to Action: In 2024, Summer EBT supported over 650,000 children in Tennessee and brought more than $72 million into our state’s economy. Our partners at the Tennessee Justice Center have created a sign-on letter to encourage citizens to express their hope for the continuation of this program. If you would like to help the state of Tennessee continue this essential program, please help us send a message to local policy makers to adopt Summer EBT for 2025 and beyond.
