Nashville, TN – Marissa Spady, senior program manager of No Kid Hungry Tennessee, has been appointed to the new Tennessee Task Force to End Childhood Hunger. The purpose of the task force is to develop a strategic action plan to eliminate childhood hunger in the state by increasing access to quality nutrition, streamlining state agency coordination, and strengthening public-private partnerships.

Spady is one of 14 members of the task force which was formed by the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee in July of 2025. She is looking forward to working with the group to address the challenges of affordability and accessibility of nutrition in the state.

“This task force is an opportunity to confront the challenges that keep 1 in 5 kids facing hunger here in Tennessee by bringing together leaders from the legislature, government and nonprofit spaces,” said Marissa Spady. “I hope one of those solutions can be Summer EBT—a game-changing program that successfully connected more than 650,000 kids with nutritious food last summer. I look forward to seeing all of the task force’s recommendations and will be working closely with our lawmakers to see that they’re fully implemented.”

The task force is charged with submitting a report of its findings and recommendations about childhood hunger needs in the state to the general assembly by July 1, 2026.
