December 8, 2021, SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS \uff0d<\/b> No Kid Hungry announced today nearly $300,000 in new grants to support schools and community organizations across the Lone Star State helping provide free meals for kids and families during this holiday season and beyond. This latest round of funding is part of the more than $7 million the nonprofit has invested in the state since the start of the pandemic to ensure all kids in Texas remain nourished and healthy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The holiday break can be one of the hungriest times of the year for many kids who rely on the meals they typically get at school. This year, that\u2019s exacerbated by the continuing economic impact of the pandemic and natural disasters that have devastated parts of the state. At the same time, many school districts are facing staffing and supply chain challenges that are making it even more difficult than ever to feed their kids.<\/span><\/p>

The grants will support the staffing and equipment necessary for schools and community groups to continue to expand programs like school breakfast, afterschool meals, weekend backpacks and school pantries, helping ensure Texas kids have access to three meals a day, everyday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u201cAs we head into the holiday season, millions of kids across Texas are facing hunger,\u201d said No Kid Hungry Texas Director Stacie Sanchez. \u201cSchool and community meal programs remain a critical lifeline for kids and their families, and No Kid Hungry is proud to support these programs and the incredibly dedicated folks who make them possible. We remain committed to working alongside school and community leaders to help kids regain a sense of normalcy and get the nutrition they need to thrive.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The latest round of No Kid Hungry grants will support the following schools and nonprofits:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    • Austin Independent School District (Austin, TX)<\/li>
    • Aldine ISD (Houston, TX)<\/li>
    • Purple Hearts Inc. (Fort Worth, TX)<\/li>
    • Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston
      (Houston, TX)<\/li>
    • Dallas Independent School District (Dallas, TX)<\/li>
    • FJV Foundation (Corsicana, TX)<\/li>
    • Goose Creek ISD (Baytown, TX)<\/li>
    • Hays Consolidated Independent School District (Buda, TX)<\/li>
    • The Josh Howard Foundation (Lewisville, TX)<\/li>
    • K-Nation Group (Little Elm, TX)<\/li>
    • North East Independent School District (San Antonio, TX)<\/li>
