Yesterday Senate Republicans released a draft of the new COVID-19 relief package, the HEALS Act. No Kid Hungry is deeply disappointed to report that the proposal fails to include policies that would strengthen the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or extend and expand Pandemic EBT, programs that are essential to safe-guarding low-income families and children from hunger.
This is unacceptable. These programs, which help parents purchase the food their children need, are mission-critical in providing relief to hungry children and their families.
Congress must not adjourn without strengthening SNAP and extending and expanding Pandemic EBT. We need to send a message to Senate Leadership, and we need your help:
- Please send an email to your Senators and urge them to tell Senate Leaders Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer to strengthen SNAP and Pandemic EBT in the final COVID relief package.
- It’s also effective to Tweet at your Senators, urging them to strengthen SNAP and Pandemic EBT in the final package.
- Finally, help us keep this issue in front of Senate Leaders by posting this on your social media feeds: Attn Senate Leadership @senatemajldr and @SenSchumer: SNAP and PEBT make it possible for families to feed their children during this crisis. Please stand up for hungry kids and make sure they are in the final #COVID19 relief package! #SNAPFeedsKids

Thank you for standing up and using your voice. Making sure families have the resources they need to weather this storm is not just the moral thing to do; it is also the smart choice for the health of our nation. Congress must provide relief to hungry families. They must strengthen SNAP and extend and expand Pandemic EBT in the COVID-19 relief package.
