Congratulations to our 2025 Summer Grantees! No Kid Hungry Alabama is so excited to partner with schools and community based organizations all over Alabama! We are so thankful for all they are going to do to feed kids this summer. To read more about what they will be doing, read below:

Elmore County Public Schools

Elmore County Public Schools has done summer non-congregate before, but No Kid Hungry Alabama is excited to fund their program expansion this summer! Elmore County purchased a new refrigerated truck to be able to transport meals to five non-congregate sites across the county. These sites will also provide support to three other school districts in Alabama.

This will increase the number of students served in Elmore County by 1,000—growing from 6,000 to 7,000 children—and extend the number of service days to 66, maximizing access to nutritious meals during the critical summer months.

Feeding the Gulf Coast

Feeding the Gulf Coast is working to expand rural non-congregate in several counties, including Conecuh, Choctaw, Clark, Monroe, Mobile, and Baldwin Counties. They are going to equip new and existing partner sites with essential items—such as carts, tables, tents, and dollies—to support safe and effective meal distribution.

In addition, they will enhance communication and outreach strategies through traditional methods and the implementation of a new text messaging service to connect directly with families and site supervisors.

Haleyville City Schools

This will be Haleyville City Schools’ first time offering a rural non-congregate program in a few years! They are going to establish a non-congregate, bulk summer feeding program to serve students in remote, high-poverty areas, and also hoping to reach the local Hispanic community. They now have the equipment, packaging supplies, and delivery resources needed to successfully launch and sustain the program.

They also purchased a ticketing system to ensure families are guaranteed meals and to minimize long wait times and uncertainty during distribution. This system will help streamline operations, improve family experience, and allow for better planning and inventory management.

IV Vets

IV Vets is collaborating with all kinds of community organizations to make sure they can feed their youth this summer. With an increasing need in Sumter County, IV Vets is stepping up and expanding their summer non-congregate feeding program and facility.

Perry County Board of Education

Perry County is a first time SFSP sponsor seeking to provide non-congregate meals via 3 new mobile distribution routes and standard pickup. Daily non-congregate meals will be provide, while weekend bulk meals will be distributed Thursdays. Summer is such a critical time, and we are so excited Perry County is doing non-congregate to make meals accessible for families!
