[July 23, 2025, Sealy, Texas] – No Kid Hungry Texas and the Houston Food Bank are teaming up to host a special family-focused giveaway at the Sealy Christian Pantry on Wednesday, July 23rd. Held at a summer meal site funded by No Kid Hungry, this event will help ensure kids have the nourishment and resources they need to thrive this summer and beyond.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., families will receive no-cost summer meals for kids along with snack packs and back-to-school supplies, generously donated by Nature’s Bakery. The donation includes wholesome, convenient food options and learning essentials like crayons, pencils, and glue for 300 children in the Sealy area.
“Far too many families in Texas are making impossible choices between food, rent, and school supplies,” said Stacie Sanchez, director of No Kid Hungry Texas. “Summer meal sites like this one are here to ease that burden, and we want every parent to know that these meals can make a real difference during these critical summer months. We’re grateful for the generosity of Nature’s Bakery in ensuring kids have what they need as we head into back-to-school season as well.”
According to Feeding America, nearly 1 in 5 children face hunger in Texas. Traditional summer meal programs only reach a fraction of those who need them most, with 6 out of 7 kids missing out on essential summer nutrition.
The Sealy Christian Pantry is one of several sites operated by the Houston Food Bank that offers flexible, convenient meal options—such as grab-and-go service—to help reach more kids with free, nutritious meals this summer. With many families facing rising food costs and tight grocery budgets, these programs play a critical role in bridging the summer hunger gap, especially among rural communities.
