None of our work would be possible without the dedicated hunger heroes on the front lines of the fight to end childhood hunger. From school nutrition staff to community volunteers, these are the boots on the ground, they are the people showing up every day to make sure kids have the meals they need to thrive.
Through this campaign, we recognize and celebrate their unwavering commitment to ensuring kids are fed. Because not all heroes wear capes. Some wear aprons, name badges, and big hearts.

Kasandra Davis
Congratulations to Kasandra Davis, the Child Nutrition Director at Brenham ISD, for being selected as one of No Kid Hungry Summer Hunger Heroes.

Davis earned the award for creating a free summer meals distribution schedule that covers the entirety of students’ summer vacation, bridging the nutritional gap until the new school year starts in August.

“She exemplifies the work of No Kid Hungry. She is out and about in the community doing what we work and advocate for. But she takes it to the next level.  She goes above and beyond and it’s the kids that benefit.  It’s always about the kids.”
