All kids deserve a happy, hunger-free summer, but as communities continue to struggle with the effects of the pandemic, more children are at risk of hunger this summer than before. Luckily, free summer meal programs for students will be available across Arizona. No Kid Hungry Arizona encourages families to text FOOD or COMIDA to 304-304 to find free summer food sites organized by school districts and community organizations. You can also find a map of free meal sites at the link below:
The Summer Meals program is funded by the USDA, administered by the Arizona Department of Education, and run by school districts and local organizations. Families can text FOOD or COMIDA to 304-304 and type in a zip code to find nearby summer meals sites, along with operating days and times. No application or registration is required at sites.
Summer hunger can have a long-term impact on a child’s health, ability to learn and general well-being. No Kid Hungry is focused on providing funding and strategic assistance to schools and local organizations implementing summer meals programs to help them reach more kids during the pandemic.
