LANSING, MI — Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer released the state’s budget proposal for FY2024, which includes funding for healthy school meals for all. The following is a statement from Lisa Davis, senior vice president, No Kid Hungry.
“We commend the Governor for crafting a budget that supports the 1 in 7 kids facing hunger in Michigan. School meals are a critical tool to combat hunger and an important resource for families struggling to make ends meet but unfortunately thousands of kids facing food insecurity aren’t receiving meals at school. Ensuring every child facing hunger can easily access a no cost meal gives all Michigan kids the fuel they need to grow, learn and thrive.”
