No Kid Hungry Nebraska is a public-private coalition working to end childhood hunger in Nebraska and the United States. We do this by working with our partners to ensure kids get the food they need through outreach, education, and advocacy.

No child should go hungry in Nebraska.

At No Kid Hungry, that’s our promise. If it sounds simple, that’s because it is.

That doesn’t mean ending childhood hunger is easy. We know what works, and we’ve made extraordinary progress for kids and families. But the job isn’t done, and won’t be done until we’ve met that promise and every single child in America has the food they need to grow up healthy and strong.

The Problem

Over 18% of children in Nebraska live in food insecure homes. That phrase may sound mild, but it means that those households don’t have enough food for every family member to lead a healthy life.

We have plenty of food in the United States and child hunger relief programs are at work to combat this. The problem is that not enough kids are able to access them.

How We Can Help

In collaboration with our partners, No Kid Hungry works to ensure all children have access to the nutrition they need to grow and thrive.

Supporting Schools

We work with school districts, providing trainings, toolkits, and strategic grant funding to launch or enhance existing school meal programs.

Building Community Partnerships:

We collaborate with community-based organizations and support innovative strategies to increase food access and reach underserved communities with healthy nutrition.

Advocating for Kids

We engage with elected and government officials to make sure that ending child hunger is prioritized by decision-makers at all levels of government.

Advancing Equity

Childhood hunger is the product of longtime systemic inequities. We prioritize support to marginalized communities, share successful community-based solutions, and work to address the root causes of hunger.

Our Impact So Far

To date, No Kid Hungry Nebraska has reached more than 40 school districts and community organizations across the state and counting and invested over

Since March of 2020 alone, No Kid Hungry Nebraska has provided nearly $1.2 million in grants to schools and community-based organizations across the state. Grantees have used funding to purchase new equipment, technology, supplies, or craft promotional materials to elevate their nutrition program and increase access to school meals.
