“Harvest Hills Elementary School is the newest addition to the Gretna Public Schools family. When opening a new school, families from multiple buildings are moved and merged together as is staff. As a new building grows, culture is developed in the traditions brought along with staff, and the ones they have begun to develop with new colleagues along the way. Charleen understands and celebrates the impact that a kitchen can have when opening a new school. As are other buildings all across the nation, Gretna Public Schools are in lack of staff. To support our lack of kitchen staff, teachers sub in each day. They do this because it’s the right thing to do, it’s what’s best for kids, but ultimately, because they care deeply for Charleen and her crew. Charleen and her staff greet children each day warmly, no matter where they came from. They know and believe that interaction, no matter how small, makes a difference for all of our kids at Harvest Hills.”
