Celebrating National Principals Month!

By October 20, 2025No Comments

October is National Principals Month, and we’re shining a spotlight on Joshua Carroll, principal of Kahla Middle School in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, for his extraordinary commitment to school meals and student success. His leadership has helped more students start their day fueled, focused, and ready to learn.

Working hand-in-hand with his school nutrition team, Principal Carroll championed the launch of breakfast in the classroom, making it easier and more inviting for students to participate. His encouragement and consistent support have helped transform breakfast from a routine program into a key part of the school day.

Thanks to his advocacy, Kahla Middle is now part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), ensuring that every student receives free breakfast and lunch, regardless of income. This change has not only eased the financial burden for families but also reinforced the message that every child deserves access to nutritious meals.

The results speak for themselves: higher breakfast participation, improved attendance, stronger test scores, and a more connected school community. When students are nourished, they are better prepared to learn, grow, and succeed.

Principal Carroll’s leadership is a powerful example of how school leaders can shape a culture where nutrition and education go hand in hand. By partnering with cafeteria teams and treating them as essential partners in education, he’s helping show that school meals fuel more than just bodies: they fuel potential.
