The School District of Lee County’s Food & Nutrition Services Department has teamed up with No Kid Hungry to offer Lehigh Senior High School students breakfast after first period.  Participation in school breakfast has doubled and more than 800 students are grabbing a breakfast on the go each day!

“The Breakfast After the Bell program is helping to feed students and give them the brain fuel they need to focus, behave and learn in the classroom,” said Food & Nutrition Services Special Projects Coordinator Amy Carroll. “No child should grow up hungry. That’s why we are working together with No Kid Hungry, to make sure every child has the food they need to stay focused and ready to learn.”

“We are excited to partner with The School District of Lee County to ensure that more kids are eating breakfast at school every day,” said Sky Beard, No Kid Hungry Florida state director. “No Kid Hungry Florida is committed to the expansion of Breakfast After the Bell initiatives throughout the state as an important strategy to address child hunger.”

Lehigh Senior High School is the first high school funded by No Kid Hungry Florida to implement a Second Chance Breakfast Program.
