As we look back on 2024, we reflect with pride on the progress made to ensure Florida’s kids have access to the meals they need to grow, learn, and thrive. Thanks to the support of our partners and donors, we were able to invest $399,038 in grants that supported school districts and community organizations committed to making a real difference in the lives of children and families across the state.
Our breakfast grants focused on increasing meal participation in schools across Florida by removing barriers to student meal participation. For example, grants to schools provided breakfast for late arrivals due to transportation challenges and culturally relevant meals to ensure all students want to participate in school meals. These grants also supported the efforts of school districts to enhance their meal programs by funding essential food service equipment that improved meal quality, safety, and accessibility for students.
Our summer grants helped increase kids’ access to summer meals in rural areas across the state of Florida by supporting non-congregate meal sites that allowed students to eat their meals off-site. These non-congregate meal sites provided families the option to pick up multiple days’ worth of meals for their children in a single visit, eliminating the need for families to spend money and time making multiple trips during the week, often over long distances.
Looking Ahead
We’re excited to build on this momentum throughout 2025 by continuing to collaborate with our school and community partners to find innovative solutions to make no kid hungry a reality. Every grant, every meal, and every partnership is a step toward a future in which every kid has the nutrition they need to thrive.
