Throughout the school year, No Kid Hungry Indiana provides schools with grant funding to support their critical work to feed students. Often, our grantees work with local community organizations that enhance their programs and/or assist in feeding more students. No Kid Hungry Indiana has a statewide coalition with a wide array of stakeholders, the Indiana Partnership for Hunger-Free Students, where we work collaboratively to feed more Hoosier students. If you would like to be part of this group to network and have access to resources, check out our coalition’s website.
This year, No Kid Hungry Indiana received many great grant applications supporting innovative projects to feed students. Check out just a few of the creative projects and programs from our grantees for inspiration regarding how to expand your child nutrition program’s reach:
- Lutheran South Unity School is using grant funds to expand their school breakfast program with funds for equipment and staffing.
- Merrillville Community School Corporation is working with Northwest Indiana Food Bank to begin a school food pantry for students and families in need. The grant funds will be used to purchase equipment for the food pantry.
- Portage Township YMCA is amplifying their work in supper and summer meals by providing family meals through grant funds.
- South Bend Community School Corporation plans to enhance their supper program’s menu by utilizing grant funds for equipment to conveniently provide tasty, trendy meals to students
- Wabash City School plans to expand their secondary school breakfast program with grant funds to purchase grab-and-go carts.
