Summer Meals

Kids lose critical access to meals during the summer when schools are out. To fill this gap, many schools and community organizations across Montana operate summer meal programs to provide food to kids 18 and under at no cost.

Families: text “FOOD” to 304-304 to see nearby summer meal locations or visit www.nokidhungry.org/find-free-meals.

Congregate Meal Sites

  • Kids eat meals onsite, where they are served.
  • Urban or rural areas
  • Good option for summer school if all kids live within a safe walking distance.

Non-congregate Meal Sites

  • More flexibility!
  • Kids, parents or guardians can often pick up multiple meals at a time.
  • Kids can eat at pickup site or at home.
  • Rural areas
  • Great option if families cannot bring kids to eat every day.
  • Sites can still offer enrichment programs.

Schools & organizations: Non-congregate is a new option that allows for more flexibility to meet community needs. Read about Non-Congregate Guidance and apply to be a summer meals sponsor with Montana OPI Summer Specialist, Britta Binde. Contact: Britta.Binde@mt.gov.
