We invite all Wellness Conference attendees to join our workshop on Thursday, July 23rd at 11:00 AM in Castle C.
Workshop Title:
The Power of Non-Profit and School District Partnerships in Increasing Access to CalFresh
Workshop Description:
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) known as CalFresh has existed for decades with the mission of improving the nutritional intake of low-income households and also provides an economic boost to the local economy. In California, CalFresh as a program does so much for school districts by improving the nutritional intake of students, boosting school funding, and decreasing administrative burden through direct certification. With these benefits in mind it makes sense that school districts with direct support from local non-profits create outreach campaigns to connect families to this benefit. In this session, we look to examine previous and current school districts and non-profit partnerships centered around CalFresh. We look to identify commonalities, strategies, messaging, and tools that created a scalable, sustainable, and comprehensive CalFresh campaign focused on increasing access to families in need.
