Welcome back to our blog series, the No Kid Hungry New York Partner Spotlight. We’ll be speaking to our partners across the state, learning what’s new in their 2026 summer meals programs, and celebrating the tremendous work they do to ensure that more kids have access to the fuel they need to learn, grow and thrive. This week, we heard from Daniel Sala at Warrensburg CSD.
Can you describe your community and school district? What do you love about where you live and work?
“I came on board here at Warrensburg CSD just before this year’s summer program kicked off. So far, the community has been amazing and very appreciative of the work that the kitchen staff here at Warrensburg CSD is doing to feed families this summer. What’s not to love about Upstate New York? Especially Warrensburg being in the heart of the Adirondacks.”
What’s new in your summer meals program this year?
“This is the first year we are doing summer meal drop off. For any student in our community who signed up, we drop off 5 breakfasts and 5 lunches per eligible student to their place of residency. We are proud to say that we currently have over 140 children taking advantage of this wonderful program!”

What keeps you motivated to do this work?
“Being able to see the smiles on children’s faces when they are enjoying breakfast and lunch. As well as being able to change the narrative on what people think of when they think of school food. The staff here really puts in a lot of work and effort and it shows day in and day out.”
If you could tell everyone in America something about free summer meals, what would you tell them?
“Taking advantage and participating in the program is one of the best things you can do. Help us feed the future!”
What’s the best feedback you’ve gotten about the work you’ve done in your summer meals program?
“Appreciation from families.”
What are you most proud of regarding your summer meals program?
“Knowing that no matter what, a child is getting breakfast and lunch from us.”
At No Kid Hungry New York, we thank Daniel and the food service staff members at Warrensburg for their dedication and enthusiasm in feeding kids throughout the summer. We’re grateful to support their work and honored to shine a spotlight on their extraordinary program!
