Almac recognizes that charitable organizations rely on significant donations typically received via monthly events and fundraising, and that those efforts have ceased as a result of the pandemic. To help support these organizations Almac launched a localized employee survey effort to determine regional charitable beneficiaries. Each of Almac’s 5,600 employees across 11 main facilities located in the U.K., Europe, Asia and North America were given the opportunity to select charities, and in total, 33 organizations will receive a donation in direct response to Almac’s employee feedback.
100 Black Men of America (Triangle East Chapter), No Kid Hungry North Carolina, and WE ARE were chosen directly by Almac employees in Durham, due to the crucial role each one plays in supporting the needs of the community.
“Almac’s generous grant will support the Mentorship Program of the Triangle East Chapter, which sponsors a wide range of workshops,group and one-on-one mentoring activities for young men of color in middle and high school. Our ultimate goal is to assist them to stay in school, graduate from high school and lay the groundwork for a successful post high school life plan,” Nate Branscomb, President, 100 Black Men of America- Triangle East Chapter, said.

“Aligned with our ongoing mission, during the COVID-19 pandemic, our team has worked to make sure healthy meals remain accessible for kids who need them across the state,” Lou Anne Crumpler with No Kid Hungry NC at UNC said. “We are honored to receive this funding, and we are grateful for our partners at schools and community organizations in Durham and statewide who tirelessly provide these critical meals.”

We are honored to have your support and partnership as we strive to create a more racially equitable society.”
In light of the global pandemic, the donations will replace this year’s Almac Family Fun events, which are held annually to bring together employees and their families. Community giving is always a crucial part of the Fun Day tradition—last year, Almac’s employees in Durham collected donations for Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.

Many of our staff have lived and worked locally for their entire lives, so we have strong ties to the community. It is a foundational part of Almac’s culture as an organization to give back to our neighbors,” Donna Christopher, Global Vice President of Operations, said. “We’re thrilled that our employee-driven initiative will support 100 Black Men of America, No Kid Hungry North Carolina, and WE ARE in their missions to eradicate childhood hunger, champion mentorship and education, and create a more equitable society in our Durham community.”
