The pandemic has shone a new light on what child hunger looks like in our country. No one has answered the call at this time more than schools by providing the nutrition children need. It’s no wonder parents consider schools to be one of their most trusted sources in a time of need. Still, there is much work to do and CalFresh Outreach can help lift children out of hunger while creating funding opportunities in your school district.
Free School Meals For All, going into effect in Fall 2022, makes California the first state to offer universal free school meals for all students. The time is now to take this incredible funding opportunity to bring our schools onto federal provisions, and CalFresh outreach is the most effective strategy in increasing access to this available funding.
In this webinar, No Kid Hungry California and the San Diego Hunger Coalition facilitated discussion on how CalFresh outreach can make a great impact on your schools and families. School Nutrition Directors and Administrators learned how to use this outreach to positively impact their budgets. They also learned how CalFresh can make a difference in not only the lives of their students, but their bottom line as well. CalFresh can be a win-win for your school district!
