In a letter to Governor Kathy Hochul, No Kid Hungry New York and more than 80 other organizations urged the administration to act quickly and prioritize funding for Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT), a new Federal program that could provide approximately $200 million in food aid to as many as 2 million vulnerable children. Governor Hochul has until January 1 to instruct the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance to opt-in to Summer EBT. To receive the federal funding, the Governor must subsequently allocate the necessary matching administrative funds for the current fiscal year and beyond as part of the upcoming state budget release in January.
